Marks, Simon

   English industrialist and philanthropist. He was born in Manchester. He became chairman of the board of Marks and Spencer Ltd chainstores in 1917. He was an active Zionist and served as secretary of the Zionist delegation to the Versailles Peace Conference. Later he became chairman of the Keren ha-Yesod Committee, vice-president of the Zionist Federation, and a member of the executive of the Zionist Organization.
